Journal of a Warmachinist, 21st Entry

Haven't been updating this or a while. Lemme just bulletpoint some stuff I've been doing:

• Finished painting 3 Greylords, although I might add some Escalation freehand on their capes.
• Almost done with 4 Widowmakers, and Epic Sorscha.
• Bought new case for transporting WM. Good for 2 jacks and lotsa troops.

Formalized the ranking into Sessions. SO any game you play, at whatever pointage, as long as you're playing it in a group of four or more WMers, you're ranked.

Just some short blurbs: Lost against Joel's Goreshade. Played Irusk for the first time. Inhospitable Ground is so nice. Having a fully-loaded Goreshade hack up Irusk is not LOL! Won against Pork's Ashlynn. Ah, the gayness of a hiding Irusk and his Inhospitable Ground. Behemoth went to town and mangled everything in its path. Goreshade's Deathjack and Slayer; and Ashlynn's Nomads and Vanguard.

Play more and enjoy more, stupid. Fuck the naysayers.

Journal of a Warmachinist, 19th Entry

Played more Warmachine at Ryan's place. Les and Ryan's first games were against each other. This time, with Joel coming in also, I thought it best to let them taste what it's like with the rest of us.

All games were at 500 points, played using Steamroller Foothold.

Game 1: Kim (Vlad Khador) vs. Ryan (Nemo Cygnar)
Ryan became distracted with the spellcasting capabilities of my Greylords and the sniping capabilities of my Widowmakers, putting Nemo on a doorway so he could blast at my Khadorans. The extra camped focus he had was Disrupted from a nice shot from Eiryss, then old Nemo got finished off by an angry Blood of Kings Vlad. Winner: Vlad Khador

Game 2: Kim (Vlad Khador) vs. Les (Kreoss Menoth)
After an aggressive surge of all his forces, Les let loose a Cleansing Fire from his Guardian's arc node, incinerating all my Widowmakers. My Behemoth, carrying several focus on both its cortex and subcortex, came up to the Menite heavy jack and tagged Kreoss with a two-hand thrown Guardian. Being knocked down, the Behemoth pummeled Kreoss with boosted Bombards (Greylords, Eiryss and a Destroyer nearby just in case the Behemoth didn't do the job). Winner: Vlad Khador

Game 3: Les (Kreoss Menoth) vs. Joel (Goreshade Cryx)
Having missed two attacks, the Deathjack managed to reduce Kreoss down to four wounds! Payback time... unfortunately, Kreoss also left the Deathjack hanging with few structure points left. Kreoss, in all his excitement for throttling the Cryx monster, forgot to knock it down with his feat. Deathjack has the last laugh! Winner: Goreshade Cryx

Game 4: Joel (Goreshade Cryx) vs. Ryan (Nemo Cygnar)
An exhilirating game to end the day! Goreshade calls up his six Banes and charges Nemo's Centurion twins. Unfortunately, we all remembered the Magno-shield special ability! It became downhill for Cryx then. Winner: Nemo Cygnar

Went on one of the shortest road trips with SHAK boyz Pork, Arvin and Emp, but all fun and laughs nonetheless. Our destination? Meycauayan, Bulacan, home of the fabled jewelers' saw (and a bunch of other obscure miniature hobby-related stuff)!

And the trip was well worth it! I got me my own set for P550 and 10 blades for P85! I won't go explaining how this is all important to a miniature hobbyist like me, especially with all the white metal Warmachine has to offer! You really wanna know? I use it to saw off people's limbs. The fine cutting makes the experience less painful methinks LOL!

After a successful trip, on to the gaming haven of UPCFA hangar we go! And yeah, siomai was in abundance as well (too bad the Pepsi wasn't). In tow, I planned on redeeming Vlad, together with fresh Widowmakers, the Behemoth, a Destroyer, Greylords, and Eiryss.

My first game was against Fred and his Deneghra-led Cryx. If I can remember correctly, he had Deneghra, a Slayer, a Leviathan, four Deathrippers and a Pistol Wraith. He conceded after I managed to pick of his forces piecemeal. As usual, trying to outmaneuver an obviously faster opponent was my greatest challenge here. The Behemoth did exceptionally well, breaking apart his Slayer with boosted armor-piercing attack after boosted armor-piercing attack!

Emp was playing against Pork right next to us. Pork used his jack-heavy Ashlynn mercenary wargroup; Emp used heavy-infantry Cryx with a Deathjack led by Terminus. After a futile barrage of boosted attacks, Ashlynn was unable to take down the dreaded Deathjack, and found herself victim to its Rampaging assault!

My second game was against Pork and the same Ashlynn list. And, my god, was this ever an outstanding match! Vlad ended up hiding behind his troops yet again, seeing four heavy warjacks running towards our front line. After a sneaky armor-reducing grenade from a laid-back Gorman, the Behemoth was rendered almost broken by a focus-camping Ashlynn (escaping with only his Cortex and Right Arm, and several hull points available)! It was all-or-nothing for me! Gritting on the sheer principle of Page 5, I surrounded the combat between Ashlynn and the Behemoth (which was joined by a Talon). Even with three focus, the Behemoth didn't even scratch the mercenary warcaster's power field. In the end, I destroyed my own Behemoth with some Frost Bites (tagging Ashlynn in the process), but putting Ashlynn in the firelines of a Spells & Portents-aided Widowmakers. Two out of four managed to damage Ashlynn, leaving only four damage points left. Risking a back strike from a Talon, Eiryss veered off, and plunked an S&P-ed Phantom Seeker bolt taking out Ashlynn's last four damage points! For sure if I didn't pull that one off, I'd have lost the game. Always fun playing with Pork!

Hoping for more games, the nearby table was occupied by Warhammer-playing Obi and Gelo (and Emp). As onlookers, the last WM game was between Romy's Menoth and Fred's Cryx. A grueling melee ensued as all models were at each others' throats in the middle of the table! Deneghra unleashed her feat (although I wasn't witness to what happened during this time). Romy survived, and had his Kreoss answer with his own feat - knocking all Cryx models down. After a boosted Immolation and a boosted flamethrower attack, Romy enjoyed his victory as the rest packed up.
